“I don’t think captaincy is affecting my batting”: Babar Azam hits back at reporters over his captaincy criticism after series whitewash vs England
Winning a test series in the subcontinent has not been an easy thing for the visiting teams, but the way England smashed Pakistan in the 3-match test series was very thrilling to watch for cricket fans all around the globe. Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam is under a lot of scrutinies after the series defeat.
Pakistan lost the series, but Babar was the best batter of the side where scoring 348 runs with the help of three half-centuries and one century. He scored a half-century in the last test as well, but it was not enough for the side. In the bowling department, Abrar Ahmed impressed everyone with 17 wickets.
The captaincy of Babar was criticized by a lot of experts and it was said that he was quite defensive in his approach. Nobody expected England to do a whitewash over the home side, and this defeat will definitely create a lot of big questions in front of the Pakistani side.
Babar Azam hits back at reporters over his captaincy criticism
The captaincy of Babar Azam has been heavily criticized, and the demands for him to resign as the captain of the side are at an all-time high. Babar attended the press conference after losing the Karachi test, and the questions regarding his captaincy were thrown at him as expected.
Babar hit back at the reporters by saying that he loves batting under pressure and that the captaincy is not putting any kind of pressure on his batting performances. He insists that he loves playing for his country and will be in the front always for his teammates after defeats like these.
“I don’t think there is anything like that (captaincy affecting batting) and I enjoy batting in pressure. I don’t think captaincy is affecting my batting. Captaincy is an honour,” Babar Azam said to the Press.
“I always try and give my best to my country. For me, Pakistan is first, the rest comes later. The team has lost and I am here to defend my teammates, as a captain, I will front up and take responsibility. Whenever something like this happens, I will be in the front.”
Pakistan will now face New Zealand in their home conditions, and they would certainly want to improve their performances after two poor home assignments against Australia and England this year.
