“I find it impossible to choose because I think Messi has more talent than Cristiano, but Cristiano has just kept on working and being incredibly fit,” said the Dutchman.
He adds that Ronaldo has achieved a lot in his career and, at this age, is still winning. Thus, he admires the work ethic of the Portuguese International. But it’s safe to say with this comment Verstappen is a bit inclined towards Messi.
Achieving the pinnacle of football
With the recent FIFA World cup win, Messi has immortalized himself as one of the greatest football players ever. Whatever doubts about his legacy were shadowing faded on Sunday night in Qatar.
The 35-year-old has often been compared with his predecessor Diego Maradona. And all this while, he was never considered better than him by many fans despite having a better overall statistical prowess just because Messi lacked a world cup.
But with this recent triumph, he is regarded as the undisputed GOAT by almost all the football fraternity. Surely a deserving title, as this was the only accolade, Messi was missing from his glorious cabinet.
Despite achieving everything, Messi wants to continue with the national team. After winning the world cup, he said he wanted to continue with Argentina as the world champion.
