Max Verstappen and Kelly Piquet have been publicly dating each other since 2021. The latter is the daughter of former F1 Champion Nelson Piquet, a man who has been heavily involved in plenty of controversies lately. However, it seems that she herself has been drawing in some heat as of late, because of her comments.
In a recent interview, she talks about her partner Verstappen. Piquet says some really nice things about the two-time World Champion, but it is the comparison drawn towards the end that has shocked fans. She begins by revealing how humble Verstappen is. Despite being so successful at the young age of 25, he hasn’t let fame get to his head.
“He remains so humble,” Piquet says. “He has both feet firmly on the ground.”
The 34-year-old Brazilian went on to describe how she admires Verstappen for speaking his mind out, and not caring what people think about him. The Red Bull ace is not interested in fame, or material things according to Kelly Piquet. It’s what she says next that really baffled F1 fans!

Nelson Piquet was in the news earlier this year after racist remarks he made on Lewis Hamilton became public. The former F1 driver insisted that he didn’t mean to offend the seven-time World Champion, but the vast majority of the F1 community refused to believe him and label him as racist. Both Verstappen and Piquet’s daughter defended him, by being adamant that the former Honda driver is not racist.
During Kelly Piquet’s recent interview, she explained how Verstappen’s opinions are unfiltered. This is right before she said that the Dutch driver reminded her of his father, because they are very similar in this aspect.
“We have a lot in common,” she continued. “He enjoys life. I realize more and more in how much he actually resembles my father.”
The fact that she would compare her partner to a man who is under legal investigation for racist remarks made on Hamilton is absolutely bizarre. Fans were shocked to see her publicly draw this resemblance between Verstappen and Piquet!
