Leclerc looking for negatives to improve
Charles Leclerc has caught the imagination of the entire F1 fraternity, with a lot of drivers complimenting his driving style and the young driver has had a lot of positive results in the last few grand prix as well.
The Sauber driver’s confidence is sky high and in an interview before the Canadian GP he had even conceded that he dreamt of driving for Ferrari as early as in 2019.
Leclerc has been driving like a dream this season but despite this rich vein of form, Leclercis is constantly trying to find a few ‘negatives’ in his game.
“Strangely it’s not that high.
“OK, they are good results, but after every race I always try to find a negative about myself and try to improve them.
“It has gone well for now but it’s not like I feel completely confident. I’m not someone that always feels confident about himself.
“I’m always trying to improve and I think that’s also a strength.” Leclerc said.
Leclerc then went onto emphasise that Sauber need to work on their braking issues, something that hindered him during the Canadian GP.
“As a team we can still do some improvements with the brakes because we are still struggling.
“[Also] my Q2 lap could’ve been a little bit better, when you see that only six hundredths was separating me from P11.” Leclerc said as quoted by Motorsport.com.
Leclerc is ecstatic with how the season is coming along for him but believes that the next 3 races could actually define his season.
“We need to be a little bit careful because I believe that the next four or five races will be a lot more difficult for us,” said Leclerc.
“We have to see but I’m extremely happy with the races we’ve made until now.
“We have taken every opportunity that we had to score points and of this we should be very proud. You need more downforce on tracks like Le Castellet or the four or five other races after.
“That’s where we are lacking at the moment so we’ll work and hopefully we’ll improve but at the moment it’s our downside.” Leclerc concluded.
