Pat Cummins captaincy record: How many Tests has Cummins won as Australia captain?
Australia finally managed to beat South Africa in a Test series in their own backyard after a spell of 16 long years, and this happened under the captaincy of Pat Cummins. When Cummins was initially named the Test captain of the side, it raised a few eyebrows, but it is certain that the Australian side has been great under his captaincy.
Ahead of the Ashes last year, the Australian team suffered a blow when Tim Paine was involved in a sexting scandal, and he was removed as the test captain of the side. Cummins’ first assignment was the Ashes in their home conditions, and he was excellent as captain, and Australia won the series by 4-0.
Australia then travelled to Pakistan, where they won the series, and then they managed to draw the series in Sri Lanka as well. The home Test series against West Indies and South Africa also went perfectly for the Australian side. He was recently appointed as the ODI captain of the side as well.
Pat Cummins captaincy record (Updated on February 28, 2023)
Ahead of the Indian Test series, Pat Cummins had a tremendous record as Australia’s Test captain, where he led Australia in 12 Tests and the Aussie side lost just a single match amongst those 12 matches. However, Australia lost the initial two Tests on the Indian tour.
Winning a Test series in Pakistan is certainly a big achievement as winning in the subcontinent conditions has not been easy for the Australian side. Australia has constantly struggled to play in Sri Lankan conditions, but they managed to level the series under Cummins. The team could not perform well in the Indian conditions.
