Pant was believed to be driving a BMW at the time of the accident at first. The narrative was fueled by an official mentioning BMW as the car involved in the accident. However, contrary to reports doing the rounds in the morning, Pant was driving a Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE Coupe.

“This is a state-of-the-art car. It has got some of the best safety features across any other segment. It has a safety feature called the ‘Attention Assist’ which effectively warns the driver if it detects that the person sitting in the driver’s seat is drowsy [or] eyes are shutting down. It has got cameras that identify these signs but it’s a general tendency [among people] to ignore these safety warnings and continue driving,” D’Souza told NDTV explaining the same in detail.
In the 327-second video, D’Souza opined about not finding any fault in the car with respect to its safety saying that the nature of the accident was so serious involving collisions with armco barriers and railings that “nothing that could have prevented” the vehicle from catching fire.
