LaMelo Ball, Who Spent $24,000 On Horse, Dropped $150,000 On A UFO Chain
LaMelo Ball has been in the spotlight ever since he was a freshman in high school. Him playing point for Chino Hills alongside his brothers, LiAngelo and Lonzo, put the entirety of the basketball world’s attention onto them. Not to mention the fact that his father, Lavar Ball, constantly kept himself in the news cycle.
Ball, who played in the Australian NBL instead of playing collegiate basketball like most NBA recruits, gained even more attention for making this move. He showcased his talent overseas against professional players and was eventually picked 3rd overall in the 2020 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets.
Melo has been accustomed to earning money from quite a young age due to his stardom in high school. It explains why, while in Australia, he spent $24,000 on a horse. However, this isn’t the most absurd thing that Melo has bought since making it big.
LaMelo Ball dropped $150,000 on a UFO chain
NBA players have made quite a lot of extravagant purchases after making it to the NBA. Being given a paycheck worth millions of dollars for the first time ever is an incredibly exhilarating feeling and LaMelo Ball clearly felt that way when he purchased an astonishing piece of jewelry.
Melo debuted a $150,000 UFO inspired chain not too long ago and that price tag looks to be justified with the way the chain is presented. Players across the league have flexed their extensive jewelry collection and Melo is no different.

The UFO is inspired by him claiming that he is both rare and ‘not from here’. Almost every single caption he puts underneath posts on Instagram have a UFO emoji and so this chain of his does stick to his brand. Even his shoes with Puma have similar branding many of the outsoles sporting the word ‘rare’.
LaMelo Ball continues to be the sole reason for Charlotte’s relevancy
The Charlotte Hornets felt as though they could fight for a play-in spot this 2022-23 NBA season. Perhaps sneaking into the Playoffs as an 8th seed was also in their sights. Instead, they are in a clear cut race to the bottom in the Wemby sweepstakes.
They are currently 11-29 and the 14th seed in the Eastern Conference. LaMelo Ball has played merely 16 games this season as he was out due to injury but even in this limited time, he’s proven himself to be the Hornets’ sole reason for relevancy. He’s currently averaging 23.7 rebounds along with 8.3 assists a night.
