Is Zion Williamson Playing Tonight vs Celtics? Pelicans Release Injury Update for 284LB Star Forward

Despite Brandon Ingram being sidelined with a toe injury, the New Orleans Pelicans have done a phenomenal job. The likes of Zion Williamson, CJ McCollum, and Jonas Valanciunas took on a majority of the team’s offensive loads on their back in BI’s absence. As a result, Willie Green’s boys are one of the best teams in the stacked West.

However, NOLA suffered a huge blow to start the new calendar year. Sustaining a right hamstring strain, Williamson sat out in the 3^rd period of the clash against the Philadelphia 76ers. A day later, the franchise announced that the former Duke Blue Devil would be re-evaluated only after a minimum of 3 weeks.

With the southpaw out, the Pels have been struggling. Despite retaining their 3^rd spot in the Western Conference, the Louisiana-based franchise suffered 4 losses in their last 6 games.

As New Orleans prepares to take on the Boston Celtics, Zion’s availability will be a huge question on every supporter’s mind.

Zion Williamson to sit out against the Celtics

There are still about 2 weeks remaining before the 284-pound forward is re-evaluated.

Clearly, the 6-foot-6 highflyer will be OUT for the 2^nd and final Pelicans-Celtics clash of this campaign.

Apart from missing out on the services of the former #1 pick, the team will also be playing without Ingram. Further, Herbert Jones has also been mentioned on the team’s injury report listed as doubtful.

Despite McCollum’s recent form, the shorthanded Pels will find it extremely difficult to upset the Boston Celtics.

Before going out with injuries, Zion was playing at an All-NBA level. Averaging 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 4.6 assists, hopefully, Zion should make his return well before the All-Star break.
