According to the report, Real Madrid has already contacted with Hector Herrera’s current club, FC Porto, for a potential transfer. It would be a reunion for Julen Lopetegui if Hector Herrera joins the Spanish giants, as both have worked together when Lopetegui was the manager at FC Porto.
The 28-year old has been at FC Porto since 2013. He has been a first-team regular for the Portuguese club ever since joining them, making 192 appearances for Porto so far, scoring 26 goals.
Last season, he played 45 matches for the club – his highest for Porto in a season.
He made his debut for Mexico in 2012, and has since represented the club in two World Cups, Copa America Centenario and CONCACAF tournaments.
Reforma also reports that Real Madrid are not the only club interested in the midfielder’s signature. Italian club AS Roma, and French club Lyon are also pursuing the midfielder following his performance in the World Cup.
Real Madrid have already completed the signing of Rodrygo from Brazilian club Santos, beating El Clasico rivals FC Barcelona to his signature.
