Sunil Gavaskar son: Has Sunil Gavaskar’s son ever played for Team India?
Indian batter Sunil Gavaskar is certainly a legend of the game, and he is certainly one of the best batters to ever grace the game of cricket. The stories of Gavaskar playing the lethal West Indies pacers without any helmet are still an inspiration to many.
Gavaskar was the first player to surpass the milestone of 10,000 test runs, and he certainly played his cricket in conditions that were really tough for batters. He made his test debut in 1971 and his last international match came in 1987. Even after his retirement, he is still working for the game.
Gavaskar is a prominent name in the commentary box, and you will find him doing the mic duties in almost every series of the Indian team. Apart from being a commentator, he is also an active columnist in different newspapers. It is certain that the ‘Little Master’ is still going strong in the cricketing world.
Sunil Gavaskar son
Rohan Gavaskar is the son of Sunil Gavaskar, and being a son of a legendary cricketer, there were high expectations from him as well to shine in cricket. Unlike his father, Rohan was a left-handed batter and was also a decent left-arm spinner. Rohan did play International cricket for India, but it was not for a prolonged period.
Rohan made his ODI debut in January 2004, whereas his last match also came in the same year in September. In that period, he played in 11 ODIs for India, where he scored 151 runs with the help of one half-century and scalped a wicket with the ball. These numbers are certainly underwhelming, and he was not picked in the squad again.
Despite failing at the international level, Rohan had decent numbers in domestic cricket, and he even captained Bengal in Ranji Trophy. He has scored 6938 FC runs at 44.19 with the help of 18 centuries, whereas he also scored 3157 List-A runs at 30.95. He was a handy spinner as well. Rohan is currently an active commentator.
