“Kareem, Michael Jordan, LeBron James”: Tom Brady Omitted Bill Russell But Named Kevin Durant in His All-Time NBA Top-10 List
Tom Brady included Kevin Durant in his list of top-10 NBA players. But the Buccaneers QB shockingly omitted Bill Russell from his list.
Tom Brady is commonly viewed as the greatest NFL player of all time. With 7 Super Bowl wins, he has more championships than most NFL franchises to his name.
Brady’s Buccaneers emerged victorious at Super Bowl LV over Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs 2 years back. However, they could only make it to the NFC Championship game last year, losing to Aaron Donald’s LA Rams.
Following that game, the then-44-year-old announced his decision to hang up his boots. However, it didn’t take long for him to announce that he’d be making a comeback for the following season.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers stuttered through the 2022-23 NFL season, posting an 8-9 record. At the time of writing, they’re on their way to a Wild Card round defeat to the Dallas Cowboys. As things stand, this may well be the last and final bow from the NFL for Tom Brady.
Tom Brady lists Kevin Durant on his NBA Top-10, misses out on Bill Russell
Tom Brady and Kevin Durant sat down recently for a podcast with Sirius XM. The duo took turns swapping their top-5 lists – KD for the NFL, and Brady for the NBA.
Listing the top-10 players of all time for any sport takes a brave person to make some dicey decisions. Brady didn’t exactly come up trumps with his list, though most of his choices are quite respectable:
“This is an impossible argument, at the end of the day. But I think you have to put Kareem, MJ, LeBron. Obviously KD. Shaq, I think, could be the best. Wilt Chamberlain.”
“Steph, the greatest shooter, probably of all time. Definitely Magic, Larry Bird. Got Kobe…it’s impossible (to rank them).”
Bill Russell mischievously trolled Brady after the Bucs’ Super Bowl LV victory
The entire sporting world was bowing down to the greatness of Tom Brady after his spectacular showing at the Super Bowl LV. Brady completed 21 out of his 29 pass attempts for a passer rating of 125.8 in that game.
Following the showing, the congratulatory messages poured in for Brady. However, 11-time NBA champion Bill Russell had something mischievous to say about the former Patriots quarterback’s career.

Was this a factor behind Brady not naming Bill Russell to his top-10? Most likely, it wasn’t. But like a lot of fans, perhaps Brady thinks Russell got it easy having played with a bunch of Hall of Famers during his heyday.
