MS Dhoni voted India’s most admired sports personality ahead of Sachin and Kohli

Dhoni recently became only the second wicketkeeper-batsman to attain the landmark of 10,000 runs in ODI cricket. He has led the Indian side to win The T20 World Cup, The Champions Trophy, and the ODI World Cup. India also attained the number 1 spot in Tests when he was the captain.

According to a recent survey, MS Dhoni is the most admired sports personality in India. The survey which voted Dhoni ahead of the current skipper, Virat Kohli and legendary batsman, Sachin Tendulkar was conducted by YouGov. On the overall list, Dhoni stood just behind the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi as the second most admired person in India.

On the list of most admired sports personalities, Sachin Tendulkar was ranked sixth by attaining 6.8% votes, whereas Virat Kohli was ranked eighth after gaining 4.8% votes. MS Dhoni was at the forefront with a score of 7.7%. The website conducted the polls with a database of more than 4 million people.

Apart from the cricketers on the list, many football celebrities are also very popular among the people in India. Popularly rated as one of the best footballers to have played the game, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are also highly admired in India. Ronaldo received 2.6% votes in the survey, whereas Messi was able to get 2% votes. With 1.6% votes, David Beckham, was also a part of the list of admired sports personalities in India.

Although MS Dhoni’s performances in the recently concluded ODI series in England were criticized by many fans and experts, his attitude, work ethics and passion have made him a popular face among the people in India and his fan-following has been growing in number with each passing day.
