Renault confirm Ricciardo move, will partner Hulkenberg
Renault have pulled off a massive coup, signing Daniel Ricciardo from Red Bull in what has to be termed as the craziest move of the summer.
Red Bull and Ricciardo seemed to be on the same page with respect to a contract extension, or at least that was what was being portrayed in front of the media.
However, all the speculations came to an end today when Red Bull released an official statement regarding Ricciardo’s move away from RBR.
As soon as the Red Bull announcement was made, reports started doing the rounds of a possible move to Renault, and Renault have now confirmed that move.

“Renault decided to come back to Formula One to fight for World Championships. Signing Daniel Ricciardo is a unique opportunity for the Groupe Renault towards this objective that could not be missed. We welcome Daniel’s arrival to our team, still in the making, but more motivated than ever.” said Jérôme Stoll, President, Renault Sport Racing.
Abiteboul too was thrilled to have Ricciardo on board and feels that Ricciardo’s move will help Renault rise to the top.
“Daniel’s signing underscores our determination to accelerate our progress towards the forefront of the sport. It is also a recognition of the work accomplished over the past two and a half seasons. Daniel’s undoubted talent and charisma are a huge bonus and statement for the team. We will have to repay his faith in us by delivering the best car possible. We welcome him to our growing team in 2019 with a great deal of pride, but also humility.” Abiteboul said.
