Draymond Green’s Suspension Brings Trysten Hill’s “Punching an Opponent” Controversy Back to Life

Golden State forward Draymond Green got into yet another controversy when he went against the Sacramento Kings. The 33-year-old was suspended for one game without pay for stepping on the chest of Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis. Green will miss Game 3 of the Warriors’ first-round playoff series on Thursday night.

The NBA announced late on Tuesday that a decision by the executive vice president and head of basketball operations Joe Dumars has been taken. The statement said that the suspension was in response to Green’s history of unsportsmanlike conduct.

What exactly happened between Draymond Green and Sabonis?

The mishap took place in the fourth quarter of the King’s 114-106 Game 4 win on Monday. Green stepped on Sabonis’ chest after Steph Curry grabbed a defensive rebound. The Warriors were pushing the ball up the court. In the midst of all that, Sabonis fell to the ground. Then, Green stomped on him, which caused him to stay on the ground for several minutes. Sabonis received a technical foul for grabbing Green’s leg, and Green was hit with a flagrant-2 foul. As a result, he was immediately ejected from the game.

Sacramento said that Sabonis underwent tests, which revealed that he bruised his sternum and was questionable for Game 3. While all this happened in the NBA, a violent altercation took place between a Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle and a Las Vegas Raiders offensive lineman a while ago.

Trysten Hill got suspended for punching an LV Raiders player

In 2021, the league suspended the 25-year-old for two games without pay. Hill punched a Raiders player after their game. The suspension news came after a video was reviewed in the aftermath of the Raiders’ 36-33 win over the Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day. Hill hit the Raiders OL John Simpson, causing his helmet to knock off his head.

The NFL’s vice president of football operations wrote a letter to Hill. “You engaged in conduct that this office considers unnecessary roughness and displays a lack of sportsmanship. When you located him, you then walked toward him in the opposite direction of your locker room.”

“You both engaged in a verbal chest-to-chest confrontation which you escalated by throwing an open hand punch to his facemask, forcible enough to cause your opponent’s helmet to come off.”

Hill was a second-round pick by Dallas in the 2019 NFL Draft. In 2022, the team waived him. The fifth-year pro never played more than seven games in a season.
