“Supplier” Christian Horner Reveals His ‘Part-Time Job’ Away From F1 Paddock

Christian Horner, one of the renowned and busiest team principals of the Formula 1 paddock of current times, has revealed his go-to activities when he’s away from the paddock. F1 has permanent and temporary breaks in between the season, and the Red Bull boss revealed what he does when he’s at home, relaxed, away from the bustling world.

Speaking at an interview with Red Bull, the boss revealed that he’d got two young children back at home, and he spends most of the time with them and his wife Geri Horner, a former member of Pussycat Dolls.

He has a daughter and a son who are nine years and six years old, respectively, and they keep the 49-year-old  busy when he’s at home. When asked if this is actually relaxing, Horner confirmed that this is what he likes to do.

As the Red Bull boss’ son is “Lego obsessed,” so Horner’s part-time job nowadays is as a “parts supplier” to him. Moving on to his daughter, she is interested in ponies and horses, and being a “country boy,” Horner enjoys being out in the countryside.

According to him, this is the time to switch off, relax, get away from F1, recharge batteries, and then return to the paddock for more. Admittedly, the F1 world has experienced a weeks-long break in April following the cancellation of the Chinese Grand Prix.

Season start was beyond the wildest expectations, said Horner

Red Bull was off to a blistering start to their 2023 F1 season. The Austrian team had a mega start with three wins, three pole positions, two 1-2 finishes, and five podiums in total.

Horner, having regarded the beginning as the best start in the team’s history, was swayed by the team’s performances. Talking about this, he said that the start was beyond the “wildest expectations and imagination.”

With just three races down, the Austrian team already leads the constructors’ championship by 58 points, almost double what Aston Martin has managed so far. Team drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez occupy P1 and P2 with 69 and 54 points, respectively.

Horner is not taking anything for granted

Despite having a 100 percent success rate and a mighty car, the team principal, known to be superstitious, is reluctant to take anything for granted. Calling the season a marathon, Horner isn’t ready to be complacent.

There’s always the nervousness that goes around at the back of the mind regarding what’s going to happen in the next race, the reliability issues, the strategic blunders. Hence, taking anything for granted can be risky, the 49-year-old added.

Christian Horner also mentioned how the rivals are expected to bring massive changes during the season. He concluded that with multiple developments and upgrades coming up in the “next few races,” things can change quickly in F1.
