Vettel’s German GP crash audio from the FOM production gallery

Sebastian Vettel blew a sweet, sweet chance of extending his lead at the top of the driver’s standings in his home grand prix, after having romped to victory in Hamilton territory.

However, with the rain coming down and the track going into a frenzy, Vettel lost control of his car and rammed into the advertising boards/barriers.

His race was over and so was his lead at the top of the driver’s standings.

Lewis Hamilton romped to an unlikely victory and Vettel had to bear the brunt of a silly, silly mistake.

Now, while the crash has spoken about a lot and video coverage of it has been extensively shared and viewed, the making of ‘live coverage’ of sport and the kind of work that goes into bringing all those live pictures, videos, highlights isn’t quite highlighted.

However, one F1 fan decided to dig deep into how the FOM covered the entire incident and released the audio of all the conversation that was going on between FOM production members.

The audio highlights how difficult it is to cover live sport and how every member has to be on the top of things for those crunch 90 minutes.

The audio also highlights Stroll spinning twice, something that wasn’t quite known to the audience during the race. The FOM thus takes a decision on what to show and what not to show to the audience, depending on what is happening on the race track, in the pit lane and in the crowd(Notice the crowd shots after Vettel’s crash).

Vettel and Hamilton will get back to work in week’s time, as the summer break has almost come to an end, and business as usual is going to begin in the F1 world.

The future of a few drivers hangs in the balance, and the next few days should resolve some of the anxiety that has crept into the F1 system
