Daniel Ricciardo Took $15,000 Opportunity to Torture Red Bull Boss Till He Was Sick

Daniel Ricciardo and Christian Horner share a perfect relationship. And fans love it. So much that someone had donated A hefty $15,000 to see Horner drink out of Ricciardo’s shoe.

The “shoey” tradition is usually reserved for when the Aussie steps on the podium. However, on Thursday, the Red Bull duo attended an event for the Wings For Life charity. Thus, Horner couldn’t really say to know the horrifying idea of drinking champagne out of a shoe.

Daniel Ricciardo Makes Christian Horner Sick in Miami

After the events of the charity night, Ricciardo revealed he had spotted his boss looking sick the following day, but brushes it off as Horner being dramatic. “I saw Christian at breakfast. He mentioned he was feeling a bit queasy. To be honest, he got away lightly. Those boots were box fresh.”

Ricciardo also reasoned that Horner has had it worse, doing the real thing with a sweaty boot on the podium. Rubbing it in, the Honey Badger adds an extra detail that will not help the sickly team principal.

“To be fair, Christian did do a real one in Malaysia once, which, I will put my hand up, is probably the sweatiest race I’ve ever done. So he got the full experience that time!”

Surely the victorious weekend the team had in Miami cured Horner of whatever he was feeling. Now, with Ricciardo promised some track time soon, maybe he can give his former a glimpse of what the future could like.

In July, during the British GP weekend, Ricciardo will sit behind the wheel of the all-powerful RB-19. As Ricciardo gets ready to try and convince Red Bull of his capabilities for a seat, the pressure is on.

“Naturally, I’m going to try and put a bit of pressure on myself for that and I guess remind the team I can still do it and see how it goes.” Although the team has been sure of their situation with Sergio Perez, with the high-intensity championship fight coming up, a quick reminder from the loyal Aussie could do no harm.

Horner had made things very clear about Ricciardo’s place within the team. “Daniel will rediscover his passion for Formula One, but we certainly have no plans to utilize him other than in that third driver role, to combine with the commercial activities that he will be performing.”

Still, it is a one-time opportunity for Ricciardo. If not for Red Bull, for the others on the grid. It is an opportunity to wipe the stain the two years at McLaren had inflicted on his career.
