The NBA’s official Twitter handle posted a uniquely hilarious tweet earlier today. After the LA Lakers were swept by the Denver Nuggets in game 4 of the Western Conference Finals, NBA Twitter posted a highlight reel. Nikola Jokic got his 8^th triple-double of the Playoffs while LeBron James finished top-scorer with 40 points. The 2-minute video was posted with Nikola Jokic’s statistics mentioned in the caption. However, the clip was a highlight reel of LeBron James. This led to a range of confused reactions from NBA fans.

With Jokic absolutely dominating this season, it comes as a surprise that the NBA is not leveraging his performance for marketing purposes.

Nikola Jokic once again proved to be the star of the game. He got a historic 8^th triple-double, finishing with 30 points, 13 assists, and 14 rebounds.

Jokic was everywhere on the night and the Lakers’ defense struggled to keep up the entire night. This was despite Anthony Davis’ best efforts, who was also left looking exhausted by the 4^th quarter.

Regardless, James was still the top-scorer in the match, finishing with highly-impressive figures of 40 points, 9 assists, and 10 rebounds. While NBA Twitter posted James’ highlights, the caption was about Jokic.

This led to a range of reactions from fans. One claimed that the NBA’s agenda for LeBron James was a little too obvious.

Another claimed that the league had deliberately sneaked in LeBron’s highlight reel.

While most appeared convinced that the tweet was a result of a mistake, some thought that it was a deliberate attempt to ignore Nikola Jokic.

LA Lakers fell to Denver Nuggets despite James’ best efforts

LeBron James scored 31 of his 40 points in the 1^st half. The Lakers were 15 points ahead at the end of the 2^nd quarter and looked set to win their first game of the Conference Finals.

However, Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets had other ideas. A blitzkrieg 24-8 start to the 3^rd quarter meant that the lead vanished within minutes.

The quarter eventually ended 35-16, leaving the LA Lakers too much to do in the 4^th quarter. With LeBron James looking exhausted, the rest of the team had a terrible shooting night and were not able to get going. The result is bound to put some uncertainty about LeBron’s future in the NBA, with the player nearing his 39^th birthday.

The Denver Nuggets ended up dominating the LA Lakers and had them beat for size. Apart from Jokic’s triple-double, Jamal Murray scored 25 points and had 5 assists. Aaron Gordon responded with his best performance in the Playoffs, finishing with 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.
