“She Really Doesn’t Love My Driving”: Dale Earnhardt Jr. Can Be Incredibly Annoying Outside a NASCAR Car Because of This Reason
For most of his career, Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been one of the most open drivers NASCAR has ever seen. Be it his press conferences, interviews, or social media interactions, Junior has always been one to lay it all out for his fans. The two-time Daytona 500 winner recently joined the Athletic for the “12 Questions” segment, making several hilarious revelations.
Dale Jr. is certainly no stranger to making hilarious admissions. Just recently, Earnhardt had gone on social media poking fun at himself for being unable to put his daughter to sleep, an episode that left his “feelings hurt”.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. mocks himself for his in-car behavior
When Junior was asked to describe himself as a passenger in a street car, his answer was more relatable than one can imagine. Jr. said, “I’m probably buried in my phone. I don’t know how this will sound, but I feel like as a husband and a father, it’s a responsibility of mine to drive us where we go. Amy doesn’t mind driving, and she really doesn’t love my driving, but I feel guilty when I sit in the passenger seat because I’m going to get on my phone and I’m going to get these emails. I can answer this, that and the other, and I can check on this and retweet this and do some work stuff or responsibilities only I can do and I can’t have someone doing for me. So I’m usually sitting over there just buried in my phone.”
Clearly, Dale Jr. is not an ideal co-passenger if the driver is one who likes making conversation.
Dale Jr. is a nuisance to the driver in more than one way
As if being glued to the phone wasn’t enough, the two-time Xfinity winner does one more thing that probably annoys drivers more than anything – putting on his music when someone else is driving. Jr. said, “I love to listen to the radio. It’s like, “Oh man, now I’m gonna play you a new song. You’re driving and I’m gonna sit in the passenger seat and I’m gonna enlighten you with some music you’ve never heard.” And you’re probably going to hate it.”
Even though Dale Jr. is one of the most beloved NASCAR personalities, these details still don’t come as a surprise because he is after all, human. What comes as a surprise is the fact that his wife, Amy, does not like his driving. For someone to not like the driving of a man who has two Daytona 500 wins to his name comes as a shocking revelation.
Perhaps maybe she can throw some light on this someday.
