Dhoni’s piece of advice to Khaleel Ahmed: MS Dhoni was seen in a discussion with Khaleel Ahmed during the match against Hong Kong.

During the fourth match of the ongoing Asia Cup between Hong Kong and India at Dubai, debutant Khaleel Ahmed was successful enough to register a double breakthrough for India. Other than the number of wickets, the time during which they were taken held the key for an Indian comeback.

Chasing a target of 286 runs to win the match, Hong Kong’s opening batsmen in Niyakat Khan and Anshuman Rath staged a record-breaking 174-run opening partnership. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that India was expected to bundle out the opposition halfway through the match.

However, Hong Kong’s opening batsmen put all those expectations at rest as they were resolute during their respective innings. Niyakat was the one who started the proceeding for his team and was followed by his captain.

Once Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Rath, it was vital for India to make this opening count. Captain Rohit Sharma was brave enough to hand the ball to the rookie Ahmed in such a situation. That being said, the 20-year old left-arm pacer didn’t let his captain or his team down as he picked up a couple of wickets.

After Yadav made the first breakthrough in the 35th over, it was Ahmed who came in to the rescue to dismiss the danger man in Niyakat in only the next over. Before being found wanting in front of the stumps, Niyakat ended up scoring a brilliant 92 (115) with the help of 12 fours and a six.

After getting the wicket, Dhoni ran in to Ahmed and was seen giving him numerous on how to bowl especially in such a pressure situation. Ahmed followed his maiden wicket another wicket of Christopher Carter.
