WATCH: F1 Instagram account takes the mickey out of Hamilton for lying to Putin
Vladimir Putin made an appearance at the Russian GP this weekend and met with Lewis Hamilton and probably the other two podium finishers as well in the cool down room.
However, it was Putin’s interaction with Hamilton that sort of caught the headlines, with Hamilton telling Putin that he won’t pour champagne all over him.
The Brit then quickly went onto say that it wasn’t actually him who sprayed the champagne over Putin in 2015, when Hamilton had finished on the podium in Sochi.
Hamilton though wasn’t quite honest about what he had said in the cool down room, probably his judgement and memory a little clouded from the tough race that he had just finished.
And the F1 Instagram handle has ensured that Hamilton does not quite get away with that ‘lie’, posting the video of Hamilton spraying Putin with champagne during the 2017 podium celebrations.
Check out the video:
Hamilton would be a little embarassed to see the video but then this is good banter from the Formula 1 social media team.
Lewis Hamilton sits atop the drivers standings, 50 points ahead of his closest rival Sebastian Vettel, with just 5 races to go.
Hamilton has all but wrapped up the title and only a major slip up can help Vettel claw back into the title race.
Vettel and Ferrari would be hoping that Mercedes somehow experience some difficulties in the grand prix to come, because from the looks of it, Ferrari can’t really do it all on their own.
An interesting last leg of the season awaits us.
