Formula 1 Japan: The winner of Formula 1 Japan leg, Lewis Hamilton and his teammate Valteri Bottas react to Vettel-Verstappen incident.

Lewis Hamilton extended his lead over Sebastian Vettel, and almost has his hands on the Championship. The British driver romped to victory in Japan, with his teammate Valteri Bottas finishing second. Sebastian Vettel, however, finished a lowly sixth following a calamitous collision.

With this win, Hamilton is now on 331 points, while Vettel is 67 points behind at 264. Bottas is third, while Kimi Raikkonen is fourth.

After the race, Lewis Hamilton and Valteri Bottas were seen reaction to the collision between Vettel and Verstappen.

Lewis Hamilton reacts to Vettel-Verstappen incident:

A calamitous collision took place during the race between Ferrari’s Vettel and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.

Vettel and Verstappen collided when the former was rejoining the track. Following the collision, Vettel was last and his hopes of challenging Lewis Hamilton at the top of drivers’ championships were over.

The safety car was out moments later, as the debris on the track after the collision was taken off.

After the race, Lewis Hamilton and Valteri Bottas were seen reacting to the collision. Both the Mercedes drivers finished first and second in the race respectively.


“Is it believable what this guy is doing?” Vettel said over the radio on Verstappen after the incident. “I don’t think so.” The stewards investigated the incident, but tellingly took no action.

What next?

“The whole weekend has been incredibly strong,” Hamilton said after the race. “It is a great one-two for Mercedes. I have raced a long, long time, but the happiness I have inside is as high as always so it is a great feeling.

This win feels like one of the first.”
