2 Years After Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton Makes Similar Lando Norris Prophecy That Could See McLaren Star Achieving His Lifelong Dream
Two seasons ago, 2016 world champion Nico Rosberg claimed McLaren’s Lando Norris would become a future world champion. Rosberg was the first person in the F1 world to point this out, making Norris ‘the one to watch’ out for in the next few seasons. Now, 2 years after those comments, Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton seems to agree with what Rosberg predicted. He also claimed that Norris could go on to win a world championship in F1, as shown in a video recorded by the YouTube channel ‘This Kid Can Game.’
Norris’ reputation has grown steadily in F1, with many people praising the 23-year-old’s driving skills over the years. His presence has also helped McLaren improve their position in F1. The only thing that seems to be stopping him at the moment is the absence of a championship-winning car. Should the Brit get one, his winning a world title wouldn’t come as a surprise to most.
Hamilton believes Lando Norris is F1’s next big thing
A day after the British GP, Hamilton came to Silverstone’s main stage for an interview session with the fans in the audience. During the interview, the hostess asked Hamilton about his battle with Norris the day before. The 38-year-old driver had positive words for the younger driver, as he made huge claims for the Bristol-born driver’s future.
“It’s amazing to see his journey and for him to be here, you know he’s a future world champion for sure. And, you know, I’ve got to keep working hard to keep him on his toes for a bit, and you know, the big award is coming.”
Hamilton and Rosberg’s words will certainly have the 23-year-old brimming with confidence. However, the former world champions are not the only ones who believe Norris is destined for great success. A close friend off the track, and a fierce enemy on it, also believes Norris has a bright future in the sport.
Max Verstappen confident of big performances from Norris in the future
Verstappen and Norris have raced each other since their childhood days. They both have seen each other improve their skills and know just how good they can be when given the right tool for the job. The current world champion believes if his McLaren contemporary were to have a car worthy of a title challenge, Norris could make life difficult for him.
Sky Sports F1 presenter, Naomi Schiff thinks Lando Norris won’t be “enjoying” having Oscar Piastri as his new team-mate. 😳

With an improved McLaren car in 2023, Norris has delivered on the words of Verstappen. Late into the first half of the season, the driver showcased impressive driving and secured back-to-back second-place finishes, taking everyone by surprise. However, his teammate Oscar Piastri might pose a potential threat to his rise. The Australian rookie has very impressive of late, and a second-place finish at the Belgian Grand Prix Sprint further asserted his presence on the scene.
