Mesut Ozil injury: Unai Emery speaks on German’s absence against Fulham
Mesut Ozil injury: Arsenal head coach Unai Emery confirms that Mesut Ozil has an injury. The midfielder played no part in the match against Fulham.
Arsenal registered their ninth consecutive win in all competitions yesterday, as they thumped Fulham 5-1. The Gunners’ star forwards, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored a brace in Arsenal’s victory.
With this win, Arsenal are now 4th in the Premier League, above on goal difference against their city rivals Tottenham Hotspur. The Gunners are only 2 points behind league leaders Manchester City, who played a goalless draw against Liverpool.
Unai Emery, justifiably, also addressed their chances of winning the Premier League title in the post-match press conference. However, the head-coach urged the squad to not be driven by recent success, and insisted that the team is taking one-match at a time and not thinking about the Premier League title.
However, Arsenal received a minor setback when Unai Emery confirmed that Mesut Ozil has suffered an injury.
Mesut Ozil injury
The Arsenal head-coach revealed that the former German international suffered a back injury. Mesut Ozil played no part in Arsenal’s win against Fulham at Craven Cottage, and was not even included on the bench for the match.

“Yesterday he came in with pain and he could not train or play today,” said Emery.
Whether it’s an injury or illness, Ozil’s record of missing games is shocking for a star man. 35 games in all competitions last season is not good enough, and whether people like to admit it or not, his injuries usually come after a poor performance.

On being questioned about whether the amount of games have taken a toll on players’ fitness, Emery replied, “No, in each training also he can get injured.
Not fussed about Ramsey not starting as he doesn’t exactly fit this system or bring much to it.
Auba was during the week so understandable he’s on bench.
Ozil has a recurring back injury that is public knowledge, even acknowledged by Germany, yet ppl claim he is faking.

“For example, today [Rob] Holding, [Nacho] Monreal, [Alex] Iwobi, [Danny] Welbeck played today and Thursday.
“I think they have the capacity to play a lot of matches. They are big and in the level of these matches every player wants to play and they are preparing for that.”
Ozil is a great player, but it’s stupid to pay someone 350k a week who can only manage one game a week if that, due to injury or illness constantly.
I don’t think he’s actually vital to our team & hopefully we show that today with Miki & Iwobi.
Time to cash in for a winger?

Mesut Ozil was forced to miss four matches earlier this year due to a similar back problem. This season, Ozil has pulled out of two Premier League matches so far. He missed the match against West Ham in August due to sickness.
