WATCH: Adam Zampa applies something suspicious on the ball
Adam Zampa applies something suspicious on the ball: With the medium of a recent video, Zampa has come under the radar.
As the ramifications of the infamous Cape Town Ball Tampering saga continue to to hurt Australia, another of their cricketer seems to be potentially in danger after a video of his has gone viral on social media since yesterday.
During the second ODI of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of Australia at Adelaide, Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa was caught rubbing something suspicious on the ball while bowling in the second innings. The video saw Zampa putting his hand in his pocket for an extended interval of time before rubbing it (the hand) to the ball.
It happened before the start of the 43rd over when Zampa was introduced into the attack for his fourth spell. With David Miller batting on 51*, South Africa required 47 runs in 48 balls at that point in time.
No official accusation has been made on Zampa as of now, however, it would be interesting to know whether it will be made in the times to come.
In which was a tightly-fought encounter, it eventually saw Australia ending their losing streak as they won the match by a narrow margin of seven runs. After South Africa captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and chose to field, they restricted Australia to 231-10 in 48.3 overs.
Wicket-keeper Alex Carey, who came in to bat at No. 5, top-scored with 47* (72). With bowling figures of 9.3-0-54-4, Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the South African bowlers.
The opposition lost wickets at regular intervals, something which snatched the momentum from their chase. Even David Miller’s 12th ODI half-century couldn’t save Proteas from losing the match as they scored 224-9 in their allotted quota of 50 overs. With bowling figures of 10-0-35-3, Marcus Stoinis was the pick of the bowlers for the second time in a row for Australia.
