WATCH: Fernando Alonso furious with McLaren
Fernando Alonso has endured a painful last few seasons with McLaren, as the team just hasn’t been able to come up with a good enough car for the Spaniard to unleash his sublime driving skills in.
Alonso has been largely frustrated by how McLaren have competed in midfield this season, often venting out his frustration over the radio to his engineer of not being able to compete.
The Spaniard has already announced that he won’t be continuing in F1 next season and thus will be looking to end his F1 career(if it in fact is the end) on a high with a good race in Abu Dhabi, one where he can be amongst the points and maybe, just maybe, finish in 7th place(best of the rest).
Now, a video has surfaced on social media, one which shows the kind of frustration Alonso suffers in that McLaren cockpit during races.
During the start of the season, Alonso did seem a little pumped with the car in Australia as he achieved his best ever result with McLaren with a P5.
Alonso uttered the phrase, ‘Now we can fight’ and also admitted that McLaren could maybe target Red Bull this season.
“Well done guys, very proud of you,” he said on the radio.
“Long winter, long seasons in the past but now we can fight, we can fight.” he added.
But all of that enthusiasm sort of fizzled out as results refused to follow for McLaren, and Alonso grew grumpier as the season went on.
In the Brazil GP, he asked his engineer to not give him any further radio messages.
