WATCH: F1 rule changes for 2019
Formula 1 as a sport has been trying to evolve season after season so as to come up with a product that has an appeal to the global audience.
All of the changes that are being brought about are being done keeping a fan centric mindset. Liberty Media wants to take F1 to new heights and believes that increasing its footprint all across the world is one way to do that.
Of course in order for that fan centric mindset to succeed, fans need to fall in love with the sport and hence it is very important to understand what an average fan demands from the sport.
Competitiveness would be at the heart of it as no one is really interested in seeing a procession on track, one where cars are not really competition with each other.
Liberty thus needs to understand(or probably already has) about what ticks about F1.
When you think about F1, you think about speed, overtaking, wheel-to-wheel battles and some brilliant radio conversations, of course.
Liberty Media and the FIA are thus working closely to come up with a product that has a global appeal and makes it interesting for everyone involved in the paddock as well.
Aerodynamic changes are being brought about for 2019, ones that could aid overtaking, as that has been the major concern for F1 over the past few years.
Limited on track battles have meant that the sport is missing out on those heated on track tussles, ones that give the maximum adrenaline rush to any fan.
