Mehidy and Shakib jump up in ICC Test Rankings: Sportsrush presents before you the latest update in the ICC Test Rankings.
Post Bangladesh whitewashing Windies 2-0 in the Test series, there has been an update in the MRF ICC Test Rankings. Bangladesh’s off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who won the ‘Man of the Match’ and ‘Man of the Series’ award respectively yesterday, have received major gains in the rankings.
Miraz, who registered career-best bowling figures of 12/117 in the second Test, moved up to 14 positions to No. 16 in the rankings. The ranking as well as career points of 696 remain the best ever for him in his career.
The only other change in the bowlers’ list is Pakistan’s Yasir Shah swapping positions with Windies captain Jason Holder.
Shakib, who scored 115 runs in two matches at an average of 38.33 and a strike rate of 55.02, received a seven-position jump to reach No. 21, with the Top 20 remaining the same. Apart from his batting, Shakib picked up nine wickets at an average of 18.33, an economy rate of 3.46 and a strike rate of 31.7. As a result, kept his No. 1 all-rounder rank intact.
Mahmudullah, who was Bangladesh’s highest run-scorer in the series with 170 runs at an average of 56.66 and a strike rate of 57.62, gained a 15-position jump to reach No. 48. Other Bangladesh batsmen in Mominum Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim dropped down by two and seven places to No. 26 and 28 respectively.
Windies’ Shimron Hetmyer, who ended up the series as the highest run-scorer, scoring 222 runs at an average of 55.50 at an average of 105.21, reached to his career-best rank of No. 52. Career-best points of 506 saw him making this 28-position jump.
India captain Virat Kohli remained the top batsmen in the rankings. With a four match Test series against Australia coming up, one expects him to build on his lead at the top of the table. Among the teams, India continued to dominate the ICC rankings.

If seen in the average, Australia @CAComms should have been the world’s number one test team But look at the ICC test rankings, India’s @BCCI name is on number one top rank.
