WATCH: Virat Kohli nails the DRS with Usman Khawaja dismissal
Virat Kohli nails the DRS: India captain was seen taking a correct DRS call as umpire overturns Usman Khawaja decision.
During the second day of the first Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Adelaide, India captain Virat Kohli was seen taking a correct DRS call as his decision forced umpire Kumar Dharamasena to overturn his decision.
It all happened on the third delivery of the 40th over when India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin deceive Australia top-order batsman outside the off-stump. With the ball not touching the bat, it appeared to be another instance of Ashwin beating the batsman.
However, it was wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant who immediately went for the appeal. After Dharamasena ruled the decision in the batsman’s favour, Kohli didn’t take much time to ask for the DRS.
Replays gave conclusive evidence of the fact that the ball had kissed Khawaja’s glove on its way to the wicket-keeper. For someone who isn’t the best when it comes to opting for reviews, India must have been delighted to get Khawaja out in such a manner. Before getting out, Khawaja scored a labouring 28 (125) with the help of one four.
Khawaja’s dismissal saw India reducing the hosts to 87-4. With Peter Handscomb and Travis Head in the middle, Australia are undoubtedly in a spot of bother. Having said that, a better tail than India might aid them in closing in on India’s first-innings total of 250 runs.

250 is looking a lot bigger now. Ashwin is ensuring it is more than a toe in the door now. He has bowled beautifully like he did in Birmingham.
