McLaren preparing a ‘different car’ for 2019
McLaren have struggled big time with reliability and pace issues over the last few years, something that led Alonso to grow out of love for the sport.
Honda and McLaren had a very pained relationship, with the engine holding the McLaren car back.
They then made the decision to make the switch to Renault, a move that was supposed to unleash the real power of the McLaren chassis. H
However, the last season was full of reliability and performance issues too for McLaren. A radical change was always in store and Zak Brown has claimed that McLaren’s ‘sorry days’ are behind them now.

“It will be a very different car compared to 2018,” Brown said as quoted by Autosprint.
“We need good feedback from our drivers, because as the team progresses we need both cars in the points. They know it and it’s the team’s goal,” Brown added.
Brown also confirmed that winter development had gone according to plan and that the team that McLaren had put in place was everything possible to get the team back to the top.
“Winter development went according to plan, although you don’t know what the competition has done, and competition is tough.” he said.
“Andreas (Seidl) will be responsible for the management of the F1 team.
“My role is to give McLaren a competitive platform in whatever form of motor sport we decide to race in.
“F1 is our priority, and I have to make sure there are the right people in the right places with the right resources. With Andreas (Seidl) and James Key and Pat Fry, I’m really happy with the team we have put together,” he added.
