Harbhajan Singh selects Indian squad for 2019 World Cup: Veteran Indian spinner has named a balanced Indian squad.

After former cricketers in Gautam Gambhir, Zaheer Khan and Shane Warne (for Australia), veteran India spinner Harbhajan Singh has become the next celebrated personality to put forward his version of the Indian squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

Given that the world event is approaching its commencement date and all the teams currently attempting their best to settle in on the best possible combination, Harbhajan naming his squad hasn’t come as a surprise.

Harbhajan’s squad had been made public by the official Twitter handle of Cricket World Cup yesterday. In what gave the impression of being a balanced squad, the only attention-seeking element in it was the inclusion of a dropper pacer and an inexperienced all-rounder.

Talking of the batting line-up first, Harbhajan proceeded with the almost same set of batsmen who had been originally named in the series against Australia and New Zealand. The only one to miss out from that squad was opening batsman Lokesh Rahul.

Harbhajan names Karthik over Pant

While there has been a lot of advocating being done for rookie wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant, Harbhajan was of a similar opinion as Gambhir as he preferred the experience of Dinesh Karthik ahead him.

Contrary to what most people are saying, Harbhajan named only a couple of spinner in Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. While the other feel a finger-spinner in Ravindra Jadeja will be beneficial, Harbhajan picked Vijay Shankar ahead of Jadeja.

Having made his ODI debut during the tour of Australia last month, Shankar had impressed in whatever opportunities that he got in ODIs and T20Is. It is worth mentioning that the senior cricketer had kept Jadeja as a stand-bye.

Comeback for Umesh Yadav

Right-arm fast bowler Umesh Yadav, who last played for India during the Windies series in October last year, found a spot as the fourth fast bowler (behind Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami) in Harbhajan’s squad. The 31-year old cricketer had recently expressed disappointment over his ODI snub. Read the full squad below:
