Twitter reactions on CSK beating RCB by 7 wickets: Twitter was excited as the defending champions posted their first victory in IPL 2019.

During the first match of the 12th season of the ongoing Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chennai, Chennai Super Kings defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven wickets to register their first victory in IPL 2019.

Chasing a paltry target of 71 runs in 20 overs, CSK were never really in trouble throughout the match. Despite RCB leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal dismissing Shane Watson (0) in the third over, things didn’t really work for them majorly because of the target their batsmen had set in the first innings.

It was the all-rounder duo of Kedar Jadhav (13) and Ravindra Jadeja (6) which sealed the chase for the hosts in the 18th over. Opening batsman Ambati Rayudu remained Super Kings’ top-scorer as he ended up scoring 28 (42) with the help of two fours and one six.

Having dismissed RCB on 70 in 17.1 overs, Super Kings’ bowlers had converted the contest into a one-sided encounter by the halfway stage. Veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who wasn’t expected to play the match, made early inroads into RCB’s innings.

Bringing his experience into the play, Harbhajan dismissed Virat Kohli (6), Moeen Ali (9) and AB de Villiers (9) as he bowled his four over on the trot. While Harbhajan ended up registering bowling figures of 4-0-20-3, it was leg-spinner Imran Tahir (4-1-9-3) who was their pick of the bowlers.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings captain Dhoni had won the toss and chose to field. Making a surprising move from the word go, Chennai fielded only three overseas players in opening batsman Shane Watson, all-rounder Dwayne Bravo and leg-spinner Imran Tahir.

On the other hand, Royal Challengers played batsmen AB de Villiers and Shimron Hetmyer and all-rounders Moeen Ali and Colin de Grandhomme as their overseas players.
