Umpire warns MS Dhoni regarding Ambati Rayudu: The Chennai Super Kings captain was warned because of his non-striker batsman.

During the 18th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab at Chennai, Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was warned because of his non-striker in Ambati Rayudu.

It all happened in the last over of Super Kings’ innings when umpire Rod Tucker walked up to Dhoni at the striker’s end to inform him about Rayudu backing up too far. With him leaving the crease in a carefree manner, the bowler Mohammed Shami had a chance to run him out under the Mankading rule.

After a polite warning, the game resumed and nothing substantial happened with respect to the same. It was on the back of Dhoni and Rayudu’s brisk 60-run stand for the fourth wicket that Super Kings scored a competitive 160/3 in their allotted quota of 20 overs.

While Dhoni ended up scoring 37* (23) with the help of four fours and a six, Rayudu scored 21* (15) with the help of one four and one six. Opening batsman Faf du Plessis top-scored for CSK after registering his 10th IPL half-century. He scored 54 (38) with the help of two fours and four sixes.

IPL 2019 became a point of discussion after Kings XI Punjab captain Ravichandran Ashwin mankaded Rajasthan Royals wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler. In another match, Mumbai Indians all-rounder Krunal Pandya was seen warning Punjab batsman Mayank Agarwal regarding the same.
