David Warner’s proactive gesture to Ravi Ashwin regarding mankading in KXIP vs SRH | Watch
Warner’s proactive gesture to Ravi Ashwin regarding mankading: SRH opening batsman was cautious against the KXIP captain.
During the 22nd match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad at Mohali, Sunrisers Hyderabad opening batsman David Warner was seen as proactive against Kings XI Punjab captain Ravichandran Ashwin.
It all happened during the seventh over of Hyderabad’s innings when Ashwin had introduced himself into the attack. Having earlier mankaded Rajasthan Royals wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler, Ashwin seems to have built a reputation of repeating the same in the mind’s of opposition batsmen.
In a bid to make sure that he doesn’t back up too far, Warner was seen keeping his head down and watching both the bowler and the crease.
On the other hand, Warner’s approach was different for other Punjab spinner in Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
After Ashwin won the toss and put the opposition in to bat, Sunrisers’ innings never got the much-needed momentum at the top. Rahman dismissing Jonny Bairstow (1) in the second over further didn’t work for the visitors. At the halfway mark, Hyderabad were reeling at 50/1.
Speaking during the toss ceremony, Ashwin had announced that Kings XI have made two changes to their squad tonight. “We have got two changes, more with respect to the ground. AJ [Andrew] Tye and M [Murugan] Ashwin miss out. Mujeeb and Ankit Rajpoot come in,” Ashwin was quoted as saying.
“They [SRH openers] are quality players, we would just try to spin the ball upfront,” Ashwin had added about Warner and Bairstow. KXIP skipper would be relieved to execute his plans in the powerplay.
