Ravi Ashwin mankad attempt on Shikhar Dhawan: The ongoing 37th match of IPL 2019 witnessed yet another mankading incident.

During the 37th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab at Delhi, Kings XI Punjab captain Ravichandran Ashwin attempted to mankad Delhi Capitals opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan.

It all happened in Ashwin’s third over, the 13th over of the innings. Just when Ashwin was about to bowl to Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer, he stopped in his delivery stride only to keep a check on Dhawan.

With the southpaw inside the crease, there was nothing wrong about his approach towards the same. Watching Ashwin unsuccessful in his attempt, Dhawan was his usual humourous self as he gestured in a funny manner towards KXIP skipper.

After Iyer won the toss and put in the visitors in to bat, Punjab ended up scoring 163/7 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Opening batsman Chris Gayle was the pick of the batsmen for KXIP scoring 69 (37) with the help of six fours and five sixes. With bowling figures of 4-0-40-3, DC leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane was their highest wicket-taker.

It was Ashwin who first mankaded Rajasthan Royals wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler during Punjab’s season opener against RR.
