Faf Du Plessis catch vs RCB: Chennai Super Kings opening batsman put on display an outstanding effort at the long-off boundary.

During the 39th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Indian Premier League between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Bengaluru, Chennai Super Kings opening batsman Faf du Plessis put on display an outstanding fielding effort on the boundary to dismiss Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Marcus Stoinis.

It all happened on the third delivery of the 17th over when Stoinis’ attempt to up the ante during the business end of the innings saw him returning back to the pavilion.

In a bid to clear the long-off boundary off CSK leg-spinner Imran Tahir, Stoinis played the lofted shot. In what seemed like a six, it was eventually caught by du Plessis on the boundary. With him losing his balance, the 34-year old cricketer was aware enough to throw the ball to long-on fielder Dhruv Shorey.

Coming in to bat at No. 5 ahead of Moeen Ali, Stoinis ended up scoring 14 (13) with the help of one six.

After Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and put the hosts in to bat, RCB ended up scoring 161/7 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel was the pick of the batsmen for RCB as he registered his 13th IPL half-century.

Before being dismissed in the 16th over, Patel scored 53 (37) with the help of two fours and four sixes. With bowling figures of 4-0-25-2, CSK pacer Deepak Chahar was their highest wicket-taker.
