Royals and Sunrisers have earlier faced each other during the first week of the tournament. The match had witnessed Hyderabad chasing down a 199-run target in 19 overs on the back of a 110-run opening partnership between David Warner (69) and Jonny Bairstow (45). In the first innings, Royals batsman Sanju Samson had registered his second IPL century, 102* (55), with the help of 10 fours and four sixes.
In the two matches which both the teams played against each other in IPL 2018, Sunrisers ended up winning both the match. While they won the home fixture comprehensively by 9 wickets, they won the away fixture by 11 runs despite opposition captain Ajinkya Rahane scoring 65* (53) with the help of one four and a six in a 152-run chase.
