Chennai Super Kings are hitting a bit of a slump towards the end of the League stage. They have managed to lose three of their last four games and are now staring at the possibility of not finishing in the top two if the results keep going against them.

The absence of captain MS Dhoni in the playing XI has significantly affected them as they look like a very weak team without his staunch captaincy and contribution with the bat and gloves as well. The guidance he provides to his bowlers must also be of vital importance.

CSK Top-order

Shane Watson would continue to open the innings. He has played a great knock of 96 and he would like to show some similar form again. Murali Vijay got to play his first match in the last game and he was one of the bright spots in the CSK batting line-up which fell down like a pack of cards.

Suresh Raina will continue at No. 3 and look to play an impact-generating knock. He needs to lead from the front if Dhoni sits out again. He needs his bat to answer his critics now.

CSK Middle-order

Do not expect many changes in the CSK middle order. Fleming made it pretty clear that CSK will keep backing their misfiring batsmen in spite of everything. Hence, unless MS Dhoni decides to play this last match of the season at Chennai, we must expect Ambati Rayudu to continue batting at No. 4 followed by Kedar Jadhav who has looked good at certain times in the season.

Dhruv Shorey should look to make the most of another opportunity. Mitchell Santner and Dwayne Bravo will play the finishers’ role in the team.

CSK Bowlers

The spin attack will be led by Imran Tahir who has been prolific with the ball himself. Harbhajan Singh has rolled back the years and bowled spectacularly especially in Chennai. Santner will complete the spin department. Deepak Chahar has bowled brilliantly especially in the powerplay overs. Bravo must look to make an impact at the death as usual.
