Iker Casillas heart attack: Porto goalkeeper reportedly suffers heart attack and is out for the rest of the season

The Porto goalkeeper has suffered a heart attack on Wednesday morning, with emergency surgery having been carried out. He is reportedly out of danger but will be under supervision.

The sudden heart attack could also result in Casillas’ career coming to a sorry and abrupt end. But for the time being, his fans and the entire footballing fraternity would want him to take time off and recover completely before even think of getting back to playing competitive football.

According to Goal.com, Casillas felt some chest pain during a Porto training session and was then rushed to the hospital later.

Casillas was extremely happy to have signed with Porto after being snubbed by Real Madrid and has been playing decently well for them. So much so that, he recently signed an extension with the club as well.

The Spanish shot stopper was extremely pleased with the new extension and expressed his gratitude to the club.

“Today is a very special day. I feel at home at this club. I want to stay here until I finish my career as a footballer.” Casillas said.

“When I got here, many would think it would be to play a year or two and finish. I only have words of appreciation to this club. Not only to the club but to the city itself.

“Our idea is to compete for the missing titles. We have the total focus on the championship and the possible final of the Portuguese Cup, where we want to be. In the Champions League, anything can happen.

“My head is only in FC Porto. I will finish my career here and represent the values of the club and the values of the Portistas. After that, frankly, I don’t know, but I hope I’m always tied to football.” he added.
