Heung-Min Son: Tottenham appeals against the red card ahead of final Premier league gameday
Heung-Min Son: Tottenham appeals against the red card ahead of the final Premier league gameday as the London club will face Everton on Sunday.
During Tottenham’s clash against Bournemouth, Heung-min Son was awarded a red card few minutes prior to half-time, after an altercation with Jefferson Lerma.
The toffees midfielder appeared to strike Son on the back after he fouled Ryan Fraser, with the Spurs ace then retaliating and pushing the Colombian to the ground right in front of referee Craig Pawson.
In response, Spurs have challenged the red card ahead of their final Premier league match this season, against Everton.
The Korean International’s red card means that he will miss the final league matchday on Sunday and first two league matches of 2019/20 season.
Therefore, the London based club opines that the punishment is too harsh for the act done by Son. If the appeal gets successful then the 26-year-old star will be available against Everton.
Spurs’ 1-0 defeat against Bournemouth complicated their Champions league qualification for a brief period of time. However, Arsenal and Manchester United’s draw against Brighton and Huddersfield respectively, prevented former’s demotion from the top-4.
Presently, Arsenal can still level the points with Spurs, but a better goal-difference of the Lilywhites will make them stand tall.
Since Harry Kane is injured and Son is suspended, hence, Tottenham does not really have resources upfront against Everton. Thus, Spurs are probably appealing against the red card, in order to win their final match of Premier league this season and enhance their chances to finish third.
