Fans React as Max Verstappen and Kelly Piquet’s Child’s Gender Gets Revealed Accidentally

Will it be a boy or a girl? This is the question which is uppermost on the minds of not just expectant parents-to-be but their families and well-wishers as well. And if the parents in waiting are a superstar celebrity couple like reigning world champion Max Verstappen and his Brazilian model partner Kelly Piquet, then the excitement reaches fever pitch.

Ever since the Dutch driver had confirmed in December last year that a “mini Verstappen-Piquet” was on the way, fans have been abuzz with excitement over the impending addition to the household.

Excitement peaked recently when Piquet decided to have a baby shower on Verstappen’s $12.3 million yacht, Unleash the Lion. And naturally, there was immense speculation about whether the couple is going to have a boy or a girl — until, that is, Piquet unknowingly let slip something that may just have revealed the gender of her second child.

The Brazilian model had accidentally put up a post, where she was holding a notebook that had a message written to her about a girl child. Probably realizing her mistake, she deleted the post within minutes.

However, nothing is ever deleted from the Internet. And with Kelly being as popular as she is — she has over 1.8 million followers on Instagram alone — those few minutes were enough for sharp-eyed fans to spot the significance of that note she had received.

Several fans have now taken to social media and expressed how excited they are to see Verstappen have a girl child. A fan account on X, @verstappenews wrote: “I’m so excited to have another girl joining our girl gang”. 

Although Penelope — Piquet’s first daughter with her ex-boyfriend Daniil Kvyat — is not Verstappen’s child, the two still share a very strong bond, which is perhaps the reason fans are delighted to hear that the Dutchman would be a girl dad again.

Piquet is not great at keeping secrets

Of course, the accidental gender reveal has not come as a total surprise to at least some dedicated fans. In fact, some who have been following Piquet and the baby saga closely have pointed out how Piquet may have already let slip the baby’s gender earlier.

Back in February, Piquet went shopping in Miami, where she was seen browsing the clothing section for baby girls. That was the first hint for fans that Verstappen and Piquet were expecting a girl.

Now, the note that Piquet received for her baby shower seems to have confirmed the earlier speculations.
