Why is Hashim Amla not playing in today’s South Africa vs Bangladesh 2019 World Cup match
Amla not playing in today’s South Africa vs Bangladesh: South Africa will take the field in the absence of their experienced opener.
During the fifth match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between South Africa vs Bangladesh at The Oval, veteran South Africa opening batsman Hashim Amla has not been included in their playing XI.

It was South Africa captain Faf du Plessis who won the toss and chose to field. Speaking during the toss, du Plessis announced the changes and revealed the reason behind resting Amla.
“We’re playing the extra seamer today so we want to try and attack Bangladesh with some extra pace. We want to take the learnings from the previous game. Today we are playing a slightly different team.
“Obviously Hashim Amla got hit on the head so David Miller comes back in and then the other change is Chris Morris [in place of Dwaine Pretorius], we’re trying to get some extra pace with this wicket. There was a bit of extra bounce and we’re trying to make use of that,” du Plessis was quoted as saying.

While batting during the opening match of the World Cup against England, Amla got hit on the head by a Jofra Archer bouncer. While retiring hurt on the spot, Amla came in to bat but failed to create an impact in a 312-run chase. The 36-year old batsman ended up scoring 13 (23) with the help of one four.
Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Mortaza’s announcement regarding his players (including himself) attaining full fitness ahead of the match must have come as a relishing news for their fans. “I’m fine. We are pretty confident. We’ve had a good preparation. It’s a used wicket. It should be good to bat on. Everyone is fit to play. Tamim [Iqbal] is fit,” Mortaza said.
