Will Yuvraj Singh play next year’s IPL after deciding to hang up his boots from International and First-Class Cricket on Monday

Yuvraj Singh has finally hung up his boots from International Cricket, as he announced the same during a pre-organized Press Conference in Mumbai on Monday.

Yuvraj spoke at length about his illustrious Cricketing journey throughout his 19-year career, including his post-retirement plans. While he has explicitly stated that he will no longer feature in International and First-Class Cricket from now on, fans were eager to know whether they’’ll further see him in the marquee Indian Premier League (IPL) or not.

Yuvraj takes a big decision

Having played only 4 matches in the 12^th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for his Franchise Mumbai Indians (MI), Yuvraj had a yet another forgetful season of the marquee league. The Southpaw got a bit emotional during the Press Conference and wished he had got more opportunities to play in IPL 2019.

He thus, stated that he would no longer be a part of the Indian Premier League as a player and confimed that IPL 2019 was his last season.

Would have ended my career winning IPL with SRH

The 37-year-old also exclaimed that he would have happily ended his IPL career had he won the IPL 2018 title with his then Franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Yuvraj was picked by Mumbai Indians in the IPL-12 auction earlier this year for Rs 1 crore but he revealed that he had decided to walk away from the Indian Premier League last year after 2019.

“If I had ended my career with winning IPL with Sunrisers (Hyderabad), I would have left satisfied. You don’t get everything in life. I had thought last year only that this IPL will be my last and I will give it my best shot,” he told the media.

After retirement however, Yuvraj wishes to play foreign T20 leagues like the Global T20 Canada and Euro T20 Slam, and wishes to enjoy whatever Cricket is left in him for as long as he can, provided BCCI grants him the required permission.

“I want to go and play T20 cricket. At this age, I can play some kind of fun cricket, I want to go and enjoy my life. I don’t care about pressure and performing in big tournaments like IPL. With BCCI permission, I would love to go and play,” Yuvraj said. “It’s been long and hard journey, I think I deserve that. I have had a word with BCCI and obviously I’ll have another word after this announcement. Hopefully it will be easy sailing for me, he said.
