Adrien Rabiot set to leave PSG

Adrien Rabiot set to leave PSG: The PSG midfielder joined the Parisian club as a 15-year old.

Adrien Rabiot’s contract at PSG has been among the headlines ever since the beginning of the season. The midfielder was reluctant in signing the new contract amidst reported interest from La Liga giants Barcelona.

It turns out that Rabiot will not be signing the new contract, after PSG’s sporting director Antero Henrique released an official statement on the club’s situation with the midfielder.

Rabiot joined Paris Saint Germain at the age of 15 and has been with the club ever since. It has been reported that a move to Barcelona interests the 23-year old midfielder.

Adrien Rabiot set to leave PSG:

PSG’s sporting director Antero Henrique has revealed that Rabiot has denied the chance to extend his contract at the French capital.

“On this point, we will not continue negotiations (with Rabiot),” Henrique said.

“It is a decision made by the club following numerous meetings in which Rabiotinformed us that he will not sign a contract and that he wants to leave the club on a free at the end of the season.”

Rabiot’s contract with Paris Saint Germain ends at the end of the current season, and the midfielder will be available for free in the summer. The 23-year old footballer is also free to conduct negotiations with other clubs from January next year.

The sporting director also stated that the refusal to sign the new deal will have implications on Rabiot’s season at PSG, and he will be on the sidelines for the entirety of the season.

“For the player, this holds a very clear consequence: he will remain on the bench indefinitely,” Henrique stated.

In November, Rabiot stated that his future at PSG is not secure, stating that ‘anything’ could happen.

The PSG midfielder was heavily linked with the Catalan club over the summer, but no substantial discussions took place between the two clubs. Rabiot, however, is reportedly interested in a move to Barcelona.

Apart from Barcelona, Premier League giants Manchester City and Chelsea have also shown interest in the French midfielder.
