Infighting between the AEW EVP’s in the management is reportedly preventing a big name from joining the Tony Khan led promotion.
Cody is reportedly not getting along with the rest of the Elite. According to Brian Last on the Jim Cornette Experience, Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson (The Young Bucks) have been exchanging angry emails with the American Nightmare.

If true, this is a problem for AEW. All four names above them hold the position of Executive Vice Presidents (EVP) within the company. In fact, on the recent PW Torch podcast, Jason Powell revealed that a massive name, who could have been a difference maker, has kept away from the promotion due to the dysfunction within it’s management.

“If that is not happening, they need to clear up that misconception. I do think it’s happening. There’s a would-be difference maker who could go there that has that opinion that there’s all this in-fighting and this person for that reason is hesitant to go there.”
There was no mention of who this ‘difference maker’ was. The biggest free agents that AEW could realistically bring in right now are Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe and CM Punk. Bryan is likelier to return to the WWE. However, it is not outside the realm of possibility to see Punk and Joe in AEW.
Regardless, if true, this is unfortunate for AEW. They could have do with a superstar within their ranks to improve their weekly ratings. Hopefully, the situation will become clearer in the weeks to come. With more imformation, we may have a better understanding of the situation brewing over at Tony Khan’s promotion.
