"Agenda driven": Virat Kohli takes on Ravi Shastri's trolls

Virat Kohli takes on Ravi Shastri’s trolls: The Indian captain asked the Indian coach’s trolls to “do what he has done” before debating with him.

Former India all-rounder and current coach Ravi Shastri often finds himself on the wrong side of criticism especially on social media platforms. There have been multiple instances of the 57-year old facing uncalled for criticism in the past.

Recently, India captain Virat Kohli heaped praise on Shastri. Speaking in an interview to India Today, Kohli highlighted Shastri’s record at the highest level.

“[Promoted from] Number 10 to opener [in Tests] and got an average of 41 [44.04] as an opener, he [Ravi Shastri] is not going to be bothered about someone sitting at home and trolling him, because if you want to troll a guy who has done that, then get up, face those bowlers, do what he has done, have the clarity to do it, have the courage to do it, then have a debate with that guy,” Kohli was quoted as saying.

Opening up on online trolls with respect to Shastri, Kohli didn’t shy away from saying that they are “agenda driven”. Being asked about Shastri’s reaction on the same, Kohli termed him to be “absolutely chilled out”.

“I think most of these things are agenda driven and I don’t know whose, why, what for, but to accept lies in that manner, it couldn’t be anything but agenda driven. In Ravi [Shastri] bhai’s case, luckily, he is a person that doesn’t care at all.

“He is absolutely chilled out, he says our only focus is how we can be the best team of all time. I think these petty things on the outside, they don’t matter at all to him,” Kohli added.
