AJ Styles set to take on newly crowned WWE United States Champion Ricochet

AJ Styles set to take on newly crowned WWE United States Champion Ricochet on Raw. The two will clash in a non-title bout on Monday night.

Ricochet wrote his name in WWE history last night when he beat Samoa Joe for the United States Championship. The highflyer won his first championship in the company in his first attempt. It wasn’t easy getting there though. Ricochet had to power through a 5-man elimination chance to win an opportunity to square up to the Submission machine.

Samoa Joe was on full flow as he dominated Ricochet, throwing him around and trapping him in holds. But Ricochet found his way back in the match and nailed a 630 to pin Joe 1 2 3 for the championship.

Backstage, the newest United States champion was greeted by a few WWE superstars such as Seth Rollins, Charlotte Flair, Carmella and Heavy Machinery. He was also congratulated by former Raw tag team champions Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson during his photoshoot with his new trinket. While AJ Styles followed his Club mates soon after and applauded the champ before telling him that he would see him on RAW.

AJ Styles vs Ricochet

AJ is widely considered as the best wrestler of this generation and Ricochet is already a great in the making. In a news that will excite wrestling fans no end; The WWE have now advertised Styles Vs Ricochet for Raw in a non-title match.

The two have previously fought before in 2014 at House of Glory (HOG) Phenomenal Showdown in New York with Ricochet’s HOG Heavyweight title on the line. Their match ended in a time limit draw.

This will be AJ Styles first match since Money in the Bank as he returns from Injury. Ricochet on the other hand, has just won his championship and can’t afford to lose his first match as a champion. With no time limit draw to fall back on, could we see a Samoa Joe interference to protect both stars? Most likely yes but this will still most likely end up being a good TV match.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
