Ajinkya Rahane claims the Pujara run-out hurt the team

The Men In Blue had a horrendous outing on Day 2 at Lord’s after the England seamers ran riot to dismiss the visitors for a paltry 107. Fingers were pointed yet again at the Indian batting line-up as they are yet to perform.

Despite the quick dismissals of the openers, two of India’s most reliable batsman were in the middle. Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli were on course to assess the conditions and string a partnership before the unfortunate run-out which saw Pujara dismissed for just 1.

The No.3 batsman was involved in a huge mix-up with the Indian captain at the other end and Ajinkya Rahane felt that the dismissal hurt the Indian innings alongwith the constant interruptions in play due to rain. Rahane said(as reported by Cricbuzz)

“It definitely hurts as a teammate, and I am sure even Pujara will be upset about his run out. The run out definitely hurt us and the weather after that too. I think we did not get to play for 3-4 hours, so definitely as a team, you feel really bad”

Rahane also went on to claim that if India managed to survive the day’s play, the next day would have been much easier to score runs bringing his innings at the Lord’s in 2014 to reference. Rahane stated:

“Before I got out today I was thinking about my innings at Lord’s in 2014. I think we had less time to bat out, about 25-30 minutes to bat out this evening. In my head I only had one thought if we could bat out today then tomorrow it could be totally different,”

India head into Day 3 with a low total on the board. Do you think that the Men In Blue will bowl out England in quick time with 3 seamers? Drop in your thoughts in the comments section.
