Alexis Sanchez: Man Utd take huge call on future of unwanted forward

Manchester United are prepared to keep Alexis Sanchez beyond the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are preparing to keep Alexis Sanchez at Old Trafford. The Red Devils were forced to take this decision, with no interest on the Chilean from other clubs whatsoever, says Manchester Evening News.

The former Arsenal attacker joined Manchester United in January 2018, but has endured a difficult time ever since then. The 30-year-old has scored just 5 goals in his Red Devils career, and sits on a high payroll which is disrupting the club as a whole. The forward scored twice in the Copa America, excluding the decisive spot-kick which took them to the Semifinals of the competition.

Alexis Sanchez got injured while playing the third-place game against Argentina in the Copa America and the former Barcelona forward started just 19 times for the Red Devils, which majorly came when the United attack was plagued with injuries. The United manager is preparing him for the pre-season friendlies against Kristansund on July 30 and AC Milan on August 3.

During the inception of the summer transfer window, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly told the attacker to find a suitor, but he has now been forced to withdraw that statement because of the lack of clubs interested in the attacker. The Chilean is contracted until 2022 with the club and it would be very hard for the Red Devils to sell him in the future too.

“I don’t think Alexis’s injury was too bad. When he’s due back – three weeks after the last game – so when we come back from the tour he’s due back.

“I would expect him to be fit enough to play straight away and train straight away.” said Solskjaer.

The Red Devils still have a month left to sell Alexis Sanchez, should a suitable offer be placed on the table. The problem for the other clubs is matching is wages, but not agreeing the transfer fee with United.

What’s next?

Manchester United will keep hold of Alexis Sanchez, unless the player himself receives a lucrative offer from a European club.
