Jose Mourinho was visibly disgruntled after 4-1 defeat to Liverpool in the pre-season, and gave a rather brutal reply on being asked about Sanchez’s condition.

Manager Jose Mourinho has sparked controversy with his post-match interview after Liverpool defeated Manchester United on Sunday morning in the International Champions Cup tournament.

The Red Devils were well and truly outplayed by their fierce rivals, losing 4-1 thanks to goals from Sadio Mane, Daniel Sturridge, Sheyi Ojo and new signing Xherdan Shaqiri.

One of the only positives out of the game for United was Andreas Pereira, who struck a wonderful free-kick to cancel out Sadio Mane’s opening penalty.

However, the poor pre-season start has frustrated the Portuguese national, who spoke on the lack of transfers during his post-match interview.

“I would like to have two more players. I think I am not going to get two.

“I think that it’s possible I will have one. I gave a list to my club of five names a few months ago and I wait to see if it’s possible to have one of these players. If it’s possible, it’s possible. If it’s not, it’s not.

“If it’s possible, it’s good. If not then we keep fighting and working and believing in the players that we have.”

That is not expected to impress the Old Trafford faithful heading into the new season, considering the club had a trophyless last season.

Moreover, Mourinho was questioned on whether Chilean stalwart Alexis Sanchez was unhappy at the club.

The Red Devils head coach came out with a brutal reply to the journalist, replying: “Look, do you want him to be very happy with the players he has around him? We are here just to survive and to have some not very ugly results. Alexis is the only striker we have. And the poor man is there trying his best.”

Alexis Sanchez played 81 minutes in the defeat to Liverpool without success, and has scored just a solitary goal across three pre-season friendlies on the US tour.
